Photography is the focus this week with the opportunity to capture lights, colors, and unique geological formations.

You will have the freedom to explore Las Vegas and St. George, Utah and the surrounding areas on your free time.

Your Curriculum

At A Glance

DAY 1: Welcome to Las Vegas!

Welcome to Las Vegas! You will arrive at the Las Vegas Airport by 1 p.m. to pick up your rental car and travel to St. George, UT.

DAY 2: Zion - Human History Museum

This morning after breakfast, self-drive to Zion National Park (1 hour). Upon arrival, you will be provided a guided morning photography shoot in Zion. After securing some breathtaking shots, it’s off to the Human History Museum!

DAY 3: East Zion - Bryce Canyon

This morning, begin your day with a photography session in East Zion NP including East Canyon Overlook and various viewpoints!

DAY 4: Greand Staircase Monument - Capitol Reef NP

This morning you will have the option to attend sunrise photography session at Bryce Canyon before breakfast.

DAY 5: Morning Photography / Sunset photography

Enjoy morning photography from your gorgeous hotel views.

DAY 6: Arches National Park - Farewell Dinner

Today, you will join your local professional photographer for a morning sunrise photoshoot in Arches National Park at Delicate Arch.

DAY 7: See You Again!

Program

DAY 1: Welcome to Las Vegas!

After getting settled, a welcome dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Afterwards, enjoy an optional evening photo shoot at Red Cliffs Desert Preserve or Snow Canyon State Park.

Learning Experience: Evening photography shoot

Meals included: Dinner
Overnight in St George, UT


DAY 2: Zion - Human History Museum

Following an educational visit to the Human History Museum, head to the Pa’rus Trail and witness more natural beauty. This 3.5-mile trail is paved for both walking and cycling. Its name comes from the Paiute word meaning “bubbling, tumbling water.” You will realize the connection to the name as you stroll through this trail along the Virgin River.

After your time on the trail, you will have the opportunity to see and photograph the Court of the Patriarchs. This set of sandstone cliffs sits proudly in Zion National Park, named after the biblical figures Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Following your time in Zion National Park, there will be the chance to engage in an optional photography from Scouts Lookout in mid-morning, before enjoying a relaxing lunch and rest at Zion Park Lodge.

The evening photography option will take place at Emerald Pools, River Walk, Virgin River Narrows, and Big Bend. Sunset photography will be at Parus Trail/Virgin River Bridge for optimal sunset shots and viewing.

Learning Experience: Human History Museum, Photography shoot at Zion, Sunset photography shoot, Court of the Patriarchs.

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch
Overnight in Springdale, UT


DAY 3: East Zion - Bryce Canyon

After getting some great shots, you will drive to Bryce Canyon NP (1.5 hours). While on route to Bryce Canyon, you may stop at your leisure for some shots at Red Canyon.
Upon arrival, explore beautiful Bryce Canyon through a below-the-rim look on the Peakaboo Loop to Navajo Loop Trail or the Queens Garden Navajo Loop Trail.

As the evening approaches, you can make sunset stops to enjoy the scene at Natural Bridge and Rainbow, Yovimpa, and Inspiration Points. As you watch the setting sun, the darkening skies and illuminated stars, take advantage of this perfect opportunity for a
Dark Sky photography shoot in Bryce Canyon NP!

Learning Experience: Photography session in East Zion and Bryce Canyon, Sunset photography

Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner
Overnight in Springdale, UT


DAY 4: Greand Staircase Monument - Capitol Reef NP

After an exciting morning, embark on a journey of scenic photography of Grand Staircase Monument. En route, there will be many opportunities to capture unique images, including various slot canyons and overlooks where you can choose to stop during your self-drive.

This evening, there will be a sunset photoshoot in Capitol Reef NP. This includes the Capitol Gorge scenic drive, Sulfur Creek Overlook, and Panoramic Point, among others.

After visually consuming the breathtaking sunset views, you will have an opportunity to extend your nature shoot through an optional night sky photography session.

Learning Experience: Sunrise photography, Sunset Photography

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch
Overnight in Torrey, UT


DAY 5: Morning Photography / Sunset photography

After a delicious breakfast, you will have a morning photography shoot in Capital Reef NP, which will include Hickman Bridge, Grand Wash, Gifford Farmhouse, and Sulfur Creek Areas.

Next, it’s time to drive to Moab, UT (3 hours). While traveling, you can pay a visit to Goblin Valley.

Upon arrival, your evening photoshoot will take place in Canyonlands National Park including Mesa Arch, Grandview Point, Buck Canyon Overlook, Green River Overlook, and Upheaval Dome. Enjoy views from Green River Overlook and a late night photography session at Deadhorse Point. Afterward, there will be an optional night sky photography shoot as well.

Learning Experience: Morning Photography, Canyonlands National Park

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch
Overnight in Moab, UT


DAY 6: Arches National Park - Farewell Dinner

After getting some great shots, additional photographic opportunities take place in Devils Garden at Landscape Arch, the Windows Section, LaSal Mt. Overlook, and Courthouse Towers.

Following a morning plentiful with some great photography, it’s time for a picnic lunch in the park before you take off to Salt Lake City on a 4-hour drive to your farewell dinner.

Learning Experience: Arches National Park Photography session

Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Overnight in Salt Lake City, UT


DAY 7: See You Again!

Extend your journey on one of our numerous photography, birding, and wildlife programs in the Southwest, Northwest, or Alaska!

Need to head back? We look forward to welcoming you on another Learning Journeys immersion. Choose from domestic programs or journey abroad to Peru, South Africa, Kenya, Costa Rica, India, Ecuador, and more.

DAY 1:
