Program Overview

Our Great Ice Bear Safari is truly a bucket list, one of a kind experience. No other immersion will bring you face to face with the majestic Polar Bear. Two types of polar bear viewing await. You will observer the bears in their natural environment, on foot during daily guided hikes.

You’ll also spend a day and night in Churchill where we head out on a Tundra Buggy for a whole new vantage point. As with all Learning Journeys programs, this expedition take place only with the utmost ethical wildlife viewing. This means, we do not disrupt the animal’s normal be-havior or habitat.

Why This Program Is Unique

This program takes place at the unique Dymond Lake Lodge, nestled near the tree line of the Boreal Forest, which gives it a true wilderness feeling. Being close to both the coast and the forest means the variety of wildlife is unparalleled. Polar bears, moose, fox, pine marten, snowy owls and even the elusive wolverine are known visitors of this unique destination.

The fenced-in compound keeps you safe as you move about and allows you to get within mere feet of the wildlife that stop by to check things out. It’s also great when you want to lie on the tundra, watching the northern lights dance across the sky.
